1. Which of the following occupations do you prefer to be most- an actor or actress, a computer programmer, or a business owner? Explain why. Please include details and examples in your explanation.
If I could choose, I would like to be a business owner. First all of, it would be an excitingchallenge for me to take in charge of a company and make most profit from it. Ialways dream to be a founder of a company and have the capacity to manage it.What’s more, once I am succeed, I can be a good manager and take my company asa life-long enterprise. This benefit cannot be provided by neither actress nor computer programmer. Due to these reasons I would prefer being a business owner than being an actress or a computer programmer.
2. Which of the following courses would you choose to take? Art history, science history or 20th century history?
In my opinion, taking the course of art history is morepreferable to me.
Initially, art works, in general, are closely associatedwith the status and situation of the society at the time. Thus, art history isa very functional channel through which I will grasp the knowledge about theevolution and civilization comprehensively of different countries at differentstages of time.
In addition, being an artist has been my long-time dream.In art classes, definitely, there are many chances for me to expose to themasterpieces of prestigious painters like Van Gogh, Monet, and get inspirations,like how they depict and present their ideas and thoughts, which will remarkably enlighten me in the future.
3. If you can have a part-time job at the university, what position would you choose; a lab assistant, a campus tour guide, or a library assistant? Why?
Personally speaking, I’d like to be a library assistant. There’re a couple of reasons. First of all, being a library assistant would enable me to be exposed to a seaof books. As we all know, libraries are the main study resources for studentsand there’re novels, encyclopedias and all kinds of reference books thus Icould have more chances to read more if was a library assistant. In addition, Iadore the peaceful environment in the library so I could enjoy the peace and letoff my steam if I worked there. Every time I visit the library in my school, the environment there will help me concentrate better.
4. Describe a memorable experience in a restaurant or cafe.
I’d like to talkabout my experience in a well-known restaurant in my city which is named theGrandma’s. A fortnight ago, I ate out with my friends there and the service was impeccable. The waiters and waitresses who wore a friendly smile all the timewere so hospitable and helpful that a great number of customers were attracted to eat out there. In addition, the food they served was mainly Chinese traditional dishes which were not only mouth-watering but also nutritious.Better still, the price was moderate while the potion was extremely big. So I pretty enjoy the time eating there.
5. Describe a present you have given to others. Explain why you think it is important.
The present I’d like to describe is a book aboutkeeping a healthy life, which I sent to my mum as a birthday gift. It’s significant for a couple of reason. For one thing, the book may help my mumimprove her health condition by giving some useful suggestions on her diet. It contains the introduction of various food and their nutrients. Also the bookshows how to develop a healthy diet in an accessible way. Moreover, the part about regular excises brings benefits to my mum’s health as well. The book recommends some simple excises that are not physical demanding but effective, so it’s a wonder gift for my mum.
